Abstract

This panel presentation will describe the school and community conditions that inspired the development of a Restorative Justice Program at Ballou Senior High School. The Principal and staff will offer both empirical data and reflections on the philosophy, challenges and opportunities involved in engaging youth in changing the school culture, developing student capacity for transformative engagement and youth research/evaluation. Other related challenges and opportunities that will be discussed involve staff buy-in and parent engagement.
