In the wake of national and international movements such as #BlackLivesMatter and more recently, #IStandWithAhmed this breakout session will include scholars whose work is directly connected to social justice movements. Directly highlighting the 2016 AERA conference theme, “Public Scholarship to Educate Diverse Democracies,” professors in this session will engage in a discussion on how they use their platforms to engage in social justice movements and the implications these movements have for education.
