This presentation addresses some of the new directions public knowledge is taking. In it, the presenter will discuss the dilemma researchers face when confronted with the dual challenge of academic publishing and having a broader impact beyond the academy. Additionally, he will provide examples through his own informal work with students, where he encourages them to describe research in accurate and brief formats. In other words, pushing academics to explain research in soundbites so people can quickly understand it.
