Digital Technologies and Learning in Physical Education: Pedagogical Cases

Abstract

This session will illustrate and analyse ways in which digital technologies are used to accelerate pupil learning in physical education. Adopting the mechanism of pedagogical cases (Armour, 2014), the session will present four new cases that focus on the development of effective e-pedagogies (Casey, 2014). Each case has been developed by a multi-disciplinary team from a different country, and includes four academics from different disciplines and a practitioner. At the heart of each case is a narrative constructed by the practitioner about the ways in which they use technologies in practice, followed by evidence-based analyses from the academic team and finally a critical reflection by the practitioner. The aim is to generate new critical insights into pedagogies of technology.
