Abstract

Personalized learning (PL) approaches to instruction are intended to tailor instruction to students’ needs and interests and to support advancement based on demonstrated mastery of explicit objectives rather than on seat time. PL models have become more widespread, partly as a result of increasing availability of technology to facilitate them. This session presents findings from research on PL in several different contexts and stages of implementation. Panel participants will share lessons about designing and implementing PL approaches, explore the promise of these approaches for promoting equity, and generate discussion about factors that are likely to facilitate or hinder success.
