Session Type: Symposium
Aligned with the conference theme, this symposium illuminates how action research in varied global contexts contributes to professional and public dialogue about education. Action research, by its nature, involves not only researchers and the academy, but also invites participation from the public served by educational institutions. Action research encourages practitioners and researchers to embrace the public as participants in education. In this symposium, six papers examine how action research projects in different parts of the world engaged with larger publics regarding education and educational research including the US, Nicaragua, Korea, Africa, and Australia. Each paper will illustrate how action research provides opportunities to engage larger communities that can transform teaching and learning.
