Math for All: Lessons Learned From Piloting a Randomized Controlled Trial in a Large Urban District

Abstract
Math for All (MFA) is among a small number of professional development (PD) interventions that integrates instruction about how to differentiate instruction with learning about mathematics content; however, rigorous evaluation on larger scale implementation of these interventions has been limited. In this clustered randomized controlled trial (RCT), our research team is examining the impact of MFA on both teacher outcomes (i.e., knowledge, skill, and classroom practice) and student outcomes (i.e., academic achievement in mathematics and efficacy). This symposium is intended to share lessons learned thus far, from our pilot year. Our goal is to help other researchers learn from our experiences in implementing an RCT in the context of a large, urban district.
