Session Type: Symposium
There is a growing body of research focused on recruiting, retaining and supporting Black male teachers that is noticeably scarce or absent internationally. Most of the research on Black male teachers has occurred in the United States of America (USA); however, the experiences and perspectives of Black male teachers in the USA from international backgrounds are rarely discussed. This symposium uses research and discourse of Black male teachers in the USA as a starting point to expand the conversation into an international discourse that provides more insight into the experiences and perspectives of Black male teachers as well as efforts to recruit, retain, and support them in the classroom and in leadership positions.
