Mentoring as a Touchstone for Reinvention, Transforming, and Transitioning

Abstract
This symposium presents various perspectives, theories, and strengths and challenges in mentoring women scholars. Twenty-three women scholars from various countries with diverse ethnic and research backgrounds, have engaged in an informal mentor community over five years via various platforms of techno spaces. Through their participation in this community, these women collaboratively construct knowledge and dialogue on their cultural and professional identities, collegiality, friendship, as well as productive tensions. This symposium provides empirical evidence of the ways in which mentoring supports the professional and synergistic leadership development of women academics through various stages of their career trajectories, transformation and transitions.
