Session Type: WERA Symposium
In the contemporary global educational landscape, teacher education is rapidly shifting, with a particular focus on preparing teachers to demonstrate international competitiveness, typically through student performance on high-stakes achievement tests. These trends are driven by various global actors, including Teach For All--an organization with the mission to combat educational inequality through the development of national-level nonprofits throughout the world, based on the organizational principles of the US-based nonprofit Teach For America. The effectiveness of this model has been highly contested in the US literature, yet interestingly the model continues to spread, and actors affiliated with national-level Teach For All organizations have taken on prominent roles in education policy circles. This panel builds the yet-nascent literature on this increasingly important topic.
