Session Type: Symposium
In the proposed session, we seek to bring together contributing authors for the upcoming special issue of the International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education, titled “Challenging Neoliberal Reforms through Collaborative, Community Engaged Research,” sponsored by the Urban Research-Based Action Network (URBAN) to discuss their work that is rooted in collaborative methods. The authors of six pieces introduce their work germane to the processes and methods required to conduct collaborative research amidst a research culture that privileges traditional notions of “expert” knowledge. Cumulatively, the papers included in the proposed session examine approaches to collaborative research aimed at fostering a more inclusive, productive dialogue across multiple stakeholders regarding the impact and possibilities for educational reforms in schools K-16.
