Session Type: Symposium
This session provide multiple approaches on the application of bicultural pedagogies and Indigenous epistemologies in higher education. More specifically, the authors engage with Antonia Darder’s theoretical framework of critical bicultural pedagogy and Larry Emerson’s epistemological application of Hohzo in higher education. Furthermore, this session demonstrates how a culturally diverse collaborative of professionals can forge new alternative practices within higher education to challenge Western practices of the academy, in order to provide more holistic learning experiences for non-traditional student populations within university settings.
