This panel of university faculty and current or former K-12 educators discuss a variety of factors that can inform teacher educators and programs as to innovative approaches for preparing teachers to incorporate similar strategies, such as Maker Education and Design Thinking, into their practice. The studies reported address the potential impact of Maker Education and Design Thinking in K16 and adult academic communities. Perspectives include an overview of learning and participation in makerspaces, quantitative and qualitative research implications for classroom and teacher education maker education practices and their effects on student outcomes, and Maker Education in Professional Development.
