Session Type: Symposium
This panel brings together a group of established and emergent scholars (tenured faculty, junior scholars, graduate students) to offer theorizations, reflections, and analytical unsettlings of ethics in the curriculum. Inspired by Wynter’s (2003) method of ‘unsettling’ as a way into knowing and a call for undoing, we explore unsettlings of ethics within the context of our research praxis and pedagogies. These unsettlings are informed by anti-colonial, race critical, queer, and otherwise ways of being-knowing, rejecting traditional notions of ethics that uphold Enlightenment knowledges. To imagine otherwise, we ask how ethics might be differently ‘placed’ to facilitate deep and intentional dwelling in these re-imagined spaces of the ethical.
