Session Type: Symposium
This session gathers an interdisciplinary group of researchers from Chile and Chicago, that recognize the existence of common neoliberal threads and influences between both countries. Its aim is to deepen in the plexus between neoliberal global tendencies and its specific local deployment exemplified in paradigmatic cases underlining school closing, high stakes testing, accountability measures, and the role of public intellectuals’ compliance to neoliberal ruling. By sharing these different neoliberal experiments, their tensions and resistances, this session expects to serve as a space to reflect on diverse modes of intellectual and political interventions oriented to strengthen democracy through policy making and social struggles.
