F*ck da System: Womyn of Color Engaging in Critical Praxis

Abstract

“F*ck da System” represents our intention of disrupting a hegemonic system in our education as teacher education program students and as educators in urban public schools in Los Angeles. These three words represent our fight and struggle as social justice educators in creating un nuevo mundo. Our themes include womyn of color engaging in transformational resistance, homegrown pedagogy, conocimiento, and critical consciousness. We plan to engage our audience with these themes as experienced through our inquiry process, and we hope to tell the stories and the truths of our experiences as bicultural womyn of color from working class families who often experience silencing, ostracizing, and dehumanization in academia because we represent counter narratives.
