Session Type: WERA Symposium
This symposium examines the impact of colonialities of being on our identities as females. As educators, we are committed to critical transformative leadership in U.S. public education, which requires a decolonization of our beings but also of ideological structures. We have been in/formed by different cultural and ideological apparatuses that represent the colonial matrix. Our studies are in fact our stories in which our lives answer for the way that colonialities have impacted the way we have resisted, reproduced, and produced our identities. Although within a diverse democracy, our experiences reveal the legacy of colonialism and we unravel the complexities in which the voices were not always our own and the need for us to speak silenced voices.
