Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
One of the ever-present discussions in the educational research community is how to translate research into policy and practice. In this session, policy and research experts will discuss the relationship between research and policy as well as the key issues in national education conversations. Panelists will discuss opportunities for educational researchers to shape policy, such as testifying in Congressional hearings, working with the congressional staff to inform legislation, and supplying research findings to national figures. Key questions to be addressed by all panelists will include: In election years, how are priorities formed? What should be the number one higher education priority? Given the HEA re-authorization, how can scholars shape this key legislation? How can scholars best shape priorities and policy?
Gary D. Rhoades, The University of Arizona
