Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
There is tremendous pressure for academics to publish their research—and even more for them to publish in specific journals, from certain publishers, and write in and through academically-appropriate ways. However, more academics are presenting their work through modes that will reach a wider audience, using op-eds, blogs, social media, etc. to present their work to a larger learning community. This push for public knowledge demonstrates our growth as a field. This session features three scholars whose research addresses these modes as they work with and through multiple media outlets in order to present their work, reach a wider audience, and hopefully make a bigger impact on the field. Graduate students are encouraged to attend in order to learn about this scholarship, as well as how to meet the publication requirements necessary for our fields, while also reaching out to those outside them.
