Responsible Conduct and Dissemination of Research on Professional Education

Abstract

Much of the research on the education of professionals (e.g., attorneys, engineers, health providers) has focused on determining what is needed to ensure that the "competent" professionals are graduated from their respective schools. There are many theories and findings regarding how this goal can be accomplished. As Division I celebrates 45 years of this work, it is important to consider how we can encourage the responsible conduct of research - identifying and disseminating relevant and salient issues and protecting study particpants. In addition, consideration of the institutional environment is important. The goal of this session is to provide Division members with guidance on the responsible conduct and dissemination of research that has the greatest potential to impact the field.
