Vice Presidential Invited Centennial Session: Educating Researchers for Methodological Diversity

Sun, April 10, 8:15 to 10:15am, Marriott Marquis, Floor: Level Four, Monument

Session Type: Invited Speaker Session

Abstract

It is relatively common in the field of education research to represent differences in methods or methodologies with the categories qualitative, quantitative, and mixed. However, these categories under-represent the rich range of methodological affordances in education research and the ways in which they can work together in addressing complex problems (Moss and Haertel, 2016). The goals of this interactive symposium are to illustrate ways in which different methodologies and social theories have been brought to bear in addressing particular problems in education and to consider the implications for the preparation of education researchers to work collaboratively in a multi-methodological field.
