In most countries educational leaders are being tasked with improving performance and outcomes to reach excellence and equity. Several assumptions have to be challenged, such as the notion of privilege in a world where some nations struggle to provide public education at all, while others grapple with decreasing levels of resource; or, in countries, where both exist - some schools in neglected communities struggling to have clean drinking water, while others complain of not getting enough 'Smart Boards'. In other instances educational practices have decreased in nature due to too much pressure on effectiveness rather than looking at the potential of the diversity of students in school and the uniqueness of the individual child in the classroom.
