Abstract

This symposium overviews the doctoral student thesis experience from within an indigenous tertiary institution of Te Whare Wānanga ō Awanuiārangi (hereafter, TWWoA), Aotearoa/New Zealand. It is strongly asserted that the academic requirements of doctoral supervision can be guided and enhanced by the indigenous ‘Voice’ that is comprised of āhuatanga Māori/ Māori philosophies and practices, and resulting in a dynamic and distinctive pedagogic way that promotes academic excellence.
