Transitions in Education and Long-Term Effects of Schooling and Schools

Abstract
Several researchers addressed the need for more longitudinal research analysing long-term school effects and transitions in education. The aim of this Flemish Forum for Educational Research Symposium is to empirically investigate transitions during and after education, comprising the time span from primary education over secondary education to higher education and adulthood. The symposium also focuses on long-term effects of schools and education. Five different studies concerning this topic are brought together, focusing on conditions and processes of transitions and long-term effects. Most contributions are based on longitudinal research in one country, one study however is based on country level analyses on data of more than 20 countries.
