Session Type: Invited Speaker Session

Abstract

Dr. Diane Stewart Pollard enjoyed a national reputation as a leader in the study of equity in education. As a scholar, educator and professional colleague, she addressed the intersections of gender, race, ethnicity, and social class as they influenced the academic achievement of children and youth, particularly children and youth of color.

This session commemorates the impact of that work on the equity discourse about academic achievement in urban settings. The participants are professional colleagues whose own scholarship and/or practice was influenced by Dr. Pollard’s academic contributions.
