Abstract

With attention to visual literacy and the social studies, this study addresses the question, In what ways, if any, do pre-service elementary teachers integrate visuals and graphics into social studies lessons? With the purpose to examine the use of visual materials and associated instructional strategies/practices for social studies by pre-service elementary teacher in order to better understand their conceptions, and possible misconceptions of these ubiquitous resources that will impact elementary student learning.
