Thu, April 27, 12:00 to 1:30pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Hemisfair Ballroom 1

Abstract

Recently our department was accepted as a participant into a leadership collaborative for a large urban school district (ULC). The collaborative is aimed at developing high quality principals that fit the particular needs of the large urban district (omitted for confidentiality, 2013). Designed in collaboration with the district, our Urban Principal Cohort (UPC) program is a practitioner-oriented preparation program that is an intensive, four-year research and field-based program grounded in best practices and is designed to provide progressive and authentic training and development for aspiring urban principals. We conducted a program evaluation to make sure that our program provides a tailored learning experience for these leaders. We describe how we use our results for program improvement.
