The Black Panther Party, a Black organization seeking social change and justice during the US counterculture era, has been historically noted as a threat to US society. More scholarly attention has been given to its perceived threat than its work using pedagogy to fill in the gaps of a predominately white public education system during the late 1960s and early 1970s. After applying in-depth research of the Party and analysis of its use of critical and culturally relative pedagogies to the current declining state of Black education, the ideologies of the Black Panther Party of the past can be used to address the educational inequities of today, potentially providing Black students greater opportunity for educational success.
