As social learners, executive leaders study what and how they learn from their peers by identifying projects of worth and by distributing power. The researchers’ shared learning goals included strengthening the organization’s mission to better support principal preparation programs by diversifying its representation of leadership. Using social learning theory, the researchers reflected on their purpose as leaders within an educational organization, both individually and collectively. Two findings emerged from the data analysis: the vital importance of academic networking and relationship building. The knowledge gained through collaborative action research was put into action to help restructure the organization by making it inclusive and contemporary.
