Abstract

Teachers’ Digital Competence (DC)is becoming critical in Teacher Education because information technological skills are driving innovation. As a result,Open Educational Resources (OER)emerge as new tools for educational reforms. This study aims at confirming whether teachers’self-perception on DC may influence their use of OER.A group of 863 in-service teachers participated in a MOOC training course on DC. A 26-item questionnaire, participants’ interviews, and facilitators’reports were collected.Ordinal logistic regression(PLUM test)was conducted for the quantitative analysis and topical analysis for the interviews and reports. Our model predicts that only those teachers that perceive themselves as digital experts can reach intermediate levels in the use of OER.Thus, teacher training programs on DC are required as a prior step to prepare teachers for the use of OER.
