The creation of a large scale arts experience involving elementary school students to mark and celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary in 2017 is currently being documented. Integrating music, dance, visual, and performing arts, the arts-based project explores and embodies narratives of Canadian history, drawing on individual and collective critical and creative thinking. Through examining the nature, roles, and significances of K-6 curriculum enactment within cross-disciplinary learning experiences, the significances of such lived curriculum becoming commonplace are elicited and accentuated. Specifically, the large-scale arts experience provides a medium to reveal and examine how it elicits and accentuates the individual (the whole being) in relation to the world (the all-inclusive whole), reframing how equal educational opportunity can be negotiated.
