This self-study explores how I experienced teaching a unique undergraduate education course to 34 high school students who opted into a dual-credit high school course that was integrated with a university course. A primary objective of the course was to recruit “unlikely teachers” to our woefully White, middle class teacher education program once the students graduated from high school. Themes, which later became paradoxes, emerged from the self-study data that helped me re-evaluate my role as a teacher educator. The first theme queries “What am I Preparing My Students For” the second theme examines “Post Secondary Education as a Learned Discourse” and the final theme asks “Who am I?” as a teacher educator and decolonizer.
