Impact of Adolescents' Writing Processes on Grades in General and Special Education

Mon, May 1, 8:15 to 9:45am, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Hemisfair Ballroom 1

Abstract

The purpose of this mixed-methods study was to investigate how general education and special education students composed essays in an online setting and whether specific aspects of writing process impacted final grades. Findings revealed that students who commented on information captured from the internet immediately after locating it scored higher; however, differences between the special education and general population results suggest that different supports may be needed to achieve similar results between the two.
