Abstract

The current inquiry presents the results of a poetic inquiry in which the first author reflected on her experience of becoming an educational researcher. The arts-based research presented in this paper is intended to communicate the experiences and feelings associated with this phenomenon and to suggest that becoming an educational researcher is a phenomenon that can be marked by excitement and passion, as well as turbulence, uncertainty, and frustration. The results of this inquiry seek to illuminate what it is like to be an educational researcher and to suggest that novice educational researchers should be supported as they are inducted into the profession.
