This mixed methods study examined how educators and pre-service teachers in Turkey and the United States conceptualize global education and the extent to which they consider global education to be a form of resistance pedagogy within their respective teaching environments. Findings revealed that while some educators see global education as a form of resistance pedagogy against assessments and a curriculum that favors national history and heritage education, others are resistant to infusing global competence because it deters from national history and citizenship. The research contributes to international education because of its focus on what teachers think about global education as a form of teacher activism and their critiques regarding an approach to teaching that can inadvertently perpetuate colonial mindsets.
