Sun, April 30, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Street Level, Stars at Night Ballroom 4

Abstract

This study reviewed nursing student confidence through a pre-test/post-test survey after the intervention of a new delivery of simulation education was provided. Students were given an iBook with concept-based patient information. Students came together for a pre-brief, were given time to care for their simulated patient and then debriefed how each patient’s disease process fit into the concepts provided. Student took a pre-test survey to measure their feelings of confidence in the beginning of the course and then a post-test survey at the end of the course. Exam 1 and Final Exam grades were then compared to determine if the feelings of confidence correlated with their actual demonstration of knowledge. Students demonstrated improvement in confidence and academic achievement overall.
