The purpose of this mixed-method study is to examine empirically the effects of high-impact educational practices of Korean colleges and universities on developing their students’ intellectual and social skills. Bootstrapping regression modelling analyses based on the 2013 Korean National Survey of Student Engagement(N=18,257) demonstrated that all five high-impact educational practices that this study focused on had significant, unique, positive impacts on two outcomes with several personal and institutional variables as covariates controlled for. Findings from the qualitative case study on five high-performing institutions will elucidate how these practices actually generate positive effects on Korean student’s development and what are the important environmental factors involved in the process. Discussion and policy implications will be presented in the final paper.
