Abstract

The purposes of this research are to identify a systematic approach by which teacher education programs (TEPs) can be classified and understood and to determine the extent to which the TEP an educator attends predicts his or her career decisions as an in-service teacher. Taking a mixed methods case study approach, we examine the extent to which the type of TEP a teacher attends predicts the school he or she works in, how long he or she teaches at that particular school, and how long he or she remains in the teaching profession.
