Abstract

This paper responds to the call for proposals addressing the promise of equal educational opportunity in that the overall purpose is to theorize around the potential of art as a process for shaping scholarly discourse into public will. This qualitative case study is an exploration of an art-based event celebrating and recognizing gender diverse individuals. Viewing this case through a Critical Policy Analysis (CPA) lens (Eppley, 2009), the authors explored art as one potential method for enacting federal Title IX policies and expanding the reach of these policy discourses to wider public audiences. Preliminary themes pointed to art as a method for: storytelling, activism, inclusive curriculum-building, and communicating with broader audiences.
