In contemporary US society, attainment of an advanced degree enhances the likelihood of entry into positions of leadership and status. According to the US Census Bureau, only 4 percent of Latina undergraduate students attained a graduate degree in 2014. The following study examines influential social dynamics that enable Latina undergraduates to pursue professional degrees. A qualitative investigation through interviews were conducted among Latina senior undergraduates who are contemplating the prospect of pursuing a graduate school. This study illuminates which specific social dynamics are invaluable towards Latina undergraduates continuing onto graduate school as a well-informed and personally satisfying decision. Furthermore, this study aims to provide an understanding of underestimated social dynamics as they invigorate their promotion of professionalization among Latina undergraduates.
