Teachers are being asked to use more and diverse data to support their practice. The use of these data requires a complex set of knowledge, actions, and supports. Accordingly, it is important that district and school personnel have a consistent, reliable tool to measure the various components of this set in order to identify strengths and weaknesses in teacher data use. The Teacher Data Use Survey provides such a tool, developed by an expert research team and vetted through the Institute of Education Sciences’ peer review process. In this paper, the survey will be described, along with the underlying conceptual framework and pilot test data.
