Sat, April 29, 8:15 to 10:15am, Grand Hyatt San Antonio, Floor: Third Floor, Bonham A

Abstract

The context of the study is within a Spanish Methods course in the four-semester course sequence of a bilingual education teacher preparation program. Pre-service teachers in this foundations' semester course participate in a Spanish bilingual co-teaching model at an art museum by co-teaching gallery lessons to elementary school children in dual language classrooms. In this model, bilingual education Pre-service teachers co-teach with Art and Art history graduate students who are Gallery Teaching Fellows at the museum. The bilingual education Pre-service teachers are charged with enriching and extending the gallery lessons by the use of the Spanish language.
