Learning Qualitative Research in Lithuania: Contexts Impacting Qualitative Methodologies

Sun, April 30, 4:05 to 5:35pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Hemisfair Ballroom 1

Abstract

As diversity of research epistemologies expanded over the past four decades, researchers in countries with limited access to qualitative resources have faced challenges in learning and doing qualitative research. In Lithuania, where qualitative research has become known and accepted only in the last decade, faculty and students continuously seek ways to learn qualitative research. Contexts of learning impact which qualitative epistemologies are embraced and how they are interpreted and adapted to local situations. By examining challenges, needs, influences, and contexts of qualitative research in a fast-developing society, we provide methodological insights that may inform further development of qualitative methodologies and international scholar access to the qualitative communities.
