Fri, April 28, 8:15 to 9:45am, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Hemisfair Ballroom 1

Abstract

This papers suggests that from holistic and developmental perspectives it is important to recognize that student diets may be influencing their ability to pay attention/focus on their learning. Recent studies of nutritional supplementation have shown that supplementation has influence on cognitive performance especially those areas related to attention. The correlation between dietary intake of micronutrients and attention behaviors of community college freshmen presented in this study suggest that nutrition may be a factor in student development as well as success and achievement. It is suggested that the study offers a basis for further exploration of this area in years to come.
