Abstract

This paper presents the outcome of a European Union supported network aimed at Enhancing Responsible Research and Innovation through Curricula in Higher education (EnRRICH). A key and contested concept is that of ‘responsible’. By adding ‘responsible’ to the traditional neo-liberal innovation agenda that sees continuous innovation as a key for economic expansion and growth, the European Commission is providing some space for critical reflection and debate about what it means to be responsible.
A heuristic was developed that aspires to guide educators to (re-) design curricula in HE from an RRI perspective. Our presentation will focus on the some of the thinking behind RRI, the co-creative process of the heuristic’s development, the heuristic itself and the experiences with its use.
