This study examines how an integration of Numb3rs (edutainment) facilitates learning through critical and creative thinking. Seven participants were involved in this study where they completed in-class activities: viewed three randomly selected episodes, completed associated assignments, and completed online surveys of the episodes and associated assignments. Two artifacts – video and student work were used to determine levels of critical-creative thinking after completing edutainment-related mathematics activities. The results indicated that utilizing Numb3rs as one of the many teaching and learning tools, can facilitate a student’s thought process to be a critical-creative thinker, increase engagement and help them transition from fixed mindsets to growth mindsets. Some intrinsic and extrinsic variables which may have contributed to ratings and student learning are discussed.
