Abstract

This study aims at disrupting the linearity of time and argues that the future is actively played in the present practices of teaching. Treating the future teaching as “a possible event” allows to examine the future-oriented nature of the event in the teaching practice. By analyzing documents and interviews based on non-representational theories, this study inquires the haunting of the fear on the future is performatively operating in the present teaching as the constitutive outside, and the preparation of teachers to deal with the future is working through the circular technology that certain premediated future functions as reference points in the present practices of teaching. It suggests considering time and non-linearity of the event in theorizing teaching practices.
