Gaming communities, coding classes, and technology industry workplaces have reputations for exclusionary cultures that deter women from participating. Drawing on findings from 21 in-depth interviews, this paper examines the learning trajectories and professional pathways of women who work in the digital game industry. Findings suggest two actionable steps for researchers and educators looking to create more equitable outcomes for girls: 1) Supporting young women in identifying games and technology as a part of their possibility spaces earlier, and 2) Emphasizing the diverse range of pathways to careers in games and technology. By examining the pathways and experiences of women in games, this work contributes to the discourse around creating equitable outcomes for women in games and technology.
