Mon, May 1, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Hemisfair Ballroom 2

Abstract

Utilizing life history interviewing methods and the administration of biographical questionnaires, this study focuses on the experiences of formerly incarcerated Black men. More specifically, it examines the social and educational experiences of Black males prior to, during, and after incarceration. This research project seeks to collect data on the social and educational experiences of formerly incarcerated Black men as a means to better understand the phenomenon known as the school-to-prison pipeline and draw importance inferences about the historical, political, environmental, and educational factors or events that contributed to their incarceration.
