Expectations for the role of research in educational improvement are high. Ensuring that these expectations are met, and that research continues to make meaningful contributions to practice, requires the creation of productive relationships between researchers and practitioners. Few, however, have systematically explored the ways researchers can build stronger relationships with practitioners. This study seeks to identify such strategies by examining district leaders’ views of how researchers might better meet their needs.
